Entrance
These designs act as versatile examples of connections between interior and exterior. Multiple step-free entrances offer convenience for everyone. A wraparound deck, level with the first floor, allows free movement to each entrance and around the house and connects to nearby site features. Covered entrances prevent water and snow buildup on porches, provide protection for people entering and exiting the home in all weather and help prevent water infiltration at the doorways.

This solution can be extensive and intensive, but scaling down this option can still have a potentially strong effect for a fraction of the price. OK for experienced do-it-yourselfer.
How-to tip
Be aware of grade changes and slopes near the perimeter of the home when considering a wrap-around deck, as it will still be best to reduce or eliminate the use of stairs to reach ground level on each side for ease of mobility. Using low maintenance decking materials (such as composites) will eliminate splintering as well as the need for painting or staining.
